Therapy

When anxiety, stress, or low mood begin to weigh heavily on daily life, it can feel exhausting and isolating. You may find yourself struggling with painful emotions or feeling disconnected from others. You are not alone — and support is available.

Individual Therapy

Individual therapy sessions involve a one-on-one 50 minute long session on a weekly or bi-weekly basis. During these sessions, Melissa provides a safe and confidential environment where you can explore and discuss your thoughts, feelings, behaviors, and experiences. The primary goal of individual therapy is to help you identify and work through your challenges, improve your mental health and well-being, and achieve your  personal goals.

Modalities

  • CBT helps you understand how your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours are connected. Together, we work to notice unhelpful thinking patterns, develop healthier perspectives, and build practical skills to support emotional well-being and daily functioning.

  • DBT focuses on helping you manage intense emotions, cope with stress, and improve relationships. It combines practical skills with compassion and acceptance, helping you build balance, resilience, and emotional stability.

  • EMDR is a structured, evidence-based approach that helps the brain process painful memories and experiences that may still feel “stuck.” By gently reprocessing these memories, EMDR can reduce emotional distress and support healing from trauma and overwhelming life events.

Fees & Session Length

Therapy is an investment in your wellbeing, relationships, and long-term growth. My fee structure reflects the depth of care, preparation, and specialized training I bring to our work together.

Extended sessions may be offered or suggested when clinically appropriate — for example, EMDR reprocessing sessions or when deeper, more thorough work would be beneficial.

Skills Groups-Coming Soon!

Online Groups

Therapeutic skills groups offer a supportive space to learn, practice, and grow alongside others who are working toward similar goals. In these groups, participants gain practical tools for managing emotions, strengthening relationships, improving communication, and navigating life’s challenges with greater confidence and clarity.

Unlike traditional individual therapy, skills groups focus on learning and applying strategies in real time—within a safe, structured, and encouraging environment. Many people find that practicing new skills in community helps reduce isolation, build motivation, and deepen understanding.

Future groups at Under the Oak may include DBT-based skills groups and relationship enrichment groups using the Prepare/Enrich framework.

Offerings

  • The Adult DBT Skills Group is offered online in a supportive, structured format designed to help adults build practical skills for managing emotions, reducing stress, and strengthening relationships.

Groups run weekly in 10-session cycles, with each session lasting two hours and including both skill teaching and guided practice. Participants may join or pause at any time, based on their needs and availability. Groups are limited to 12 participants to ensure a meaningful and engaging experience.

This group may be attended as a stand-alone support or as an add-on to individual therapy. While highly beneficial, it does not replace individual counselling.
